Between Terrace
and Kitimat.
The Snow Valley Nordic Ski Club is a non-profit run entirely by volunteers. It keeps the Onion Lake Ski Trails groomed for classic and skate, with snowshoe and fat bike trails of their own.
Read from the live site, 30 July 2026
The front page is still inviting people to a late March ski.
On the home page today
“The Rental Shed will be open this weekend! Saturday, March 28 and Sunday, March 29”
“Get out and enjoy a late March ski!!”
That banner is 4 months old and it is the first thing anyone sees. The pass on sale beneath it is the 2025-2026 one.
What the club has actually planned
- October 15 Membership registration opens
- November 8 Work party at Onion Lake
- November 8 Ski swap
- November 13 AGM
All four dates are already published further down the same site. The information is there — it is just underneath something from last winter.
None of this is a criticism of the people running it. A club staffed entirely by volunteers keeps a website current by somebody remembering to, and in March everybody is skiing.
What the top of the page could say instead
From October 15
Memberships for the coming season
One line, one button, and a date that retires itself when the season turns.
November 8
Work party at Onion Lake
November 8
Ski swap
November 13
AGM
Those dates are the club’s own. In a live build they would sit in one short list, so the banner changes the day the season does rather than the day someone notices.
Rental shed
Rates exactly as the club publishes them.
- Rates are per day, and gear must be back by 4 p.m.
- Cash or cheque only — no debit or credit at the shed.
On the trails
Onion Lake Ski Trails
Groomed for classic and skate, roughly halfway between Terrace and Kitimat.
Snowshoe and fat bike
Their own marked trails, so nobody is sharing a track that was not set for them.
The Moose Hut
Bookable through the club.
Rental shed
Skis, boots, poles and snowshoes, staffed by volunteers at weekends.
Lessons
Run by the club.
Trail conditions
Posted through Nordic Pulse for grooming updates.
The club’s trail rules
- No snowshoeing on the ski trails.
- No skiing on the snowshoe trails.
- Dogs on the Doggy Trail only.
Reaching the club
All published by the club. This concept adds nothing they have not put out themselves.
